All consultations with a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon now require a GP referral, even if it is regarding a cosmetic procedure that won’t be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
We require a copy of your GP Referral before we can book you in for an appointment. This is important, as we need to identify whether the procedure is likely to be Cosmetic or Medical to book you correctly.

For patients who need to travel to see us for treatment of lesions or skin cancers, we sometimes are able to offer the option of scheduling your consultation and procedure to be done on the same day or in the same trip. In order to do this, you will need a valid referral from your GP and we will require photographs to be sent through for the surgeon to assess. Once the photograph and referral have been reviewed by the surgeon and the details of any required surgery have been confirmed, a surgical consultant will be in contact with you to provide quotes and discuss possible appointment dates.
If you are consulting regarding a medical procedure and you have a valid referral from your GP, you will received a medicare rebate of $76.15. At your initial consultation you will meet with your prospective surgeon to discuss your surgery options. Your surgeon will determine what procedure is right for you and will go on to then explain what this entails as well as what you can expect postoperatively.
